Good Afternoon:

After almost two months of work and planning, we are ready to share our Return to Learn Plan with our families. This update contains the links to three documents that have information about our plan for the start of the 2020-21 school year. The first document is the “Return to Learn Handbook 2020” (https://tinyurl.com/R2Lhandbook1) and it is the full, 26-page, Return to Learn Plan. This file contains all components of our plan including academics, technology, social emotional learning, health and safety, and equity.

The second document is the “Return to Learn Health and Safety Summary (https://tinyurl.com/R2Lsummary1).” This file is a four-page summary of our health and safety plan. This plan explains what school will look like if we are back in session, face-to-face, with all of our students and staff.

The third document is a one-page summary (https://tinyurl.com/R2Lonepage) of the four-page health and safety plan. It provides you with a quick reference guide to what school will look like on a day-to-day basis if we are back in session, face-to-face. It also includes a link to more detailed health and safety information.

Next week, we will be sending a short survey out to our families. The information we get from the survey will help us further refine and develop our plans for returning to school in August, so it is important that you complete the survey once is it sent out.

All of the information contained in our Return to Learn Plan is subject to change. Based on the guidance we receive from the governor, the Iowa Department of Education, and the Dubuque County Public Health Department, there may be a need to alter the plan to align with current health trends. As we update and change the plan, we will communicate these changes to you.

I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. Take care of yourself and your family.

Western Dubuque Community School District
